English Version

Tachikue Gorge in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture, lies along National Route 184. It is home to a group of more than 1,000 Jizo statues.

According to a local rumor, if you look carefully at each Jizo’s face, you will eventually find one that looks exactly like your own. It is said that if you discover that statue, something bad will happen within three days.

Tachikue Gorge is not especially famous as a paranormal hotspot, but it is one of those places with a strange, unsettling story attached to it.

If you visit, be respectful around the statues and stay on safe, permitted paths, especially near roads and gorge areas.
