English Version

A statue that no longer stands

Today, the statue itself has been destroyed, leaving only its pedestal behind. But when the Satoshi-chan statue still stood in Midorigaoka Cemetery, there was a rumor that it came to life night after night and ran through the cemetery grounds.

Another story claimed that anyone who read the words carved into the pedestal would be cursed.

The story behind Satoshi-chan

According to the legend, in 1976, a young boy named Satoshi drowned in a pond inside Midorigaoka Cemetery. His parents are said to have built the Satoshi-chan statue as a memorial for him.

The location is associated with Midorigaoka Cemetery in Shimosakunobe 5-chome, Takatsu Ward, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, around 5-35-6.

If you visit, remember that this is a cemetery and a place connected to mourning. Go during appropriate hours, stay in permitted areas, and be respectful of graves, visitors, and local rules.
