Maeda Tunnel in Urasoe, Okinawa, is known locally as a tunnel with ghost stories attached to it.
Above the tunnel is a historic site known as the Tomb of Tamagusuku Chokun, and there is also a cemetery nearby. In the past, this area was also said to have had many air-raid shelters.
Perhaps it is the combination of these elements—the old tomb, the cemetery, and the wartime shelters—that has helped give Maeda Tunnel its reputation as a place that draws in something spiritual.

If you visit, be respectful of nearby graves and historic sites, avoid entering restricted areas, and do not stop or walk in traffic areas where it may be unsafe.
