Tama Cemetery: The Vanishing Woman at the Midnight Bus Stop

The Misunderstood Urban Legend of Takako Konishi and Fargo
目次

English Version

Late at night, some people say a woman’s ghost can be seen waiting at a bus stop near Tama Cemetery. According to the rumor, if someone approaches her, she quietly fades away.

Tama Cemetery opened in 1923 and is known as Japan’s first park-style cemetery. Because of its long history, it is said to contain many graves with no remaining family to care for them.

The cemetery is located around 1-1 Maehara-cho, Koganei, Tokyo. If you visit, go during appropriate hours, stay on public paths, and be respectful of mourners and graves.
