Natagiri Tunnel, near Natagiri Pass in Mogami Town, Mogami District, Yamagata Prefecture, is said to be haunted by the spirit of a woman.
According to local rumor, long ago there were many incidents in which travelers crossing the pass were attacked by bandits. That violent history is sometimes linked to the ghost stories told about the area today.
The legend remains vague, and details vary, but the tunnel is still mentioned as a place where people have reported an unsettling presence. If you visit, do so safely: follow traffic rules, avoid stopping in dangerous areas, and do not enter restricted or unsafe locations.
