English Version
Chibichiri-gama is a wartime air-raid shelter in Yomitan Village, Okinawa, known not only for ghost stories but also for its tragic history.
Rumors say that the sound of a baby crying can sometimes be heard nearby, or that handprints appear on car windows. These stories are often told in connection with the site’s past, but they should be treated as local rumors rather than confirmed events.
During the war, this cave was used as an air-raid shelter. It is also remembered as a place where many people died in a mass suicide. Because of that history, Chibichiri-gama is not a place to visit casually, as a prank, or for thrill-seeking.
The site is located around 1136-2 Namihira, Yomitan Village. If you visit, treat it as a solemn memorial area: follow local rules, do not enter restricted spaces, avoid disturbing residents, and behave with respect.
