Taura Abandoned Village: A Rumored Haunted Ghost Town in Yokosuka

The Akagi Shrine Disappearance: A Real-Life Kamikakushi in Gunma?
目次

English Version

Taura Abandoned Village is a so-called ghost town in Taura, Yokosuka, Kanagawa, where more than 20 former homes are said to stand in ruins.

Among the remaining buildings, one abandoned house is known by the nickname “Kayako’s House.” Rumors say that the spirit of a young girl appears there, though these stories remain local ghost-spot lore rather than confirmed accounts.

The area reportedly became uninhabited around 1997, when residents moved out. At some point after that, it began to gain attention as a haunted location.

The reported location is around 4-42 Taura-cho, Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Because this is a real area with abandoned structures, visitors should avoid entering private property or unsafe buildings, and should respect local residents and posted signs.
