English Version

Near Lake Toyota in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, there is a small, unnamed tunnel on Prefectural Route 319 that has long been known locally as a haunted spot.

The rumor attached to it is a familiar one in Japan: if you go there late at night, turn off your headlights, and honk your horn, a woman dressed in white is said to appear.

There are no clear details about who the woman is supposed to be, or why the tunnel became associated with this story. Still, despite having no widely known name, the tunnel has been spoken of for years as one of the area’s eerie roadside locations.

If you visit the area, treat it as a real public road. Do not turn off your lights while driving, stop in unsafe places, block traffic, or disturb nearby residents. Enjoy the legend from a safe and respectful distance.
