A Strange Feeling at the Shiogama Great East Japan Earthquake Monument

Nankai Trough Megaquake: Warning Signs, Tsunami Fears, and the “30 Times” Question
目次

English Version

During a family trip to Miyagi in the summer of 2013, the storyteller says something felt wrong with their body shortly after passing through the area around Tagajo.

By the time they reached this spot in Shiogama, they found themselves unable to stop crying. According to the account, their mother performed a kind of spiritual cleansing, after which the heaviness in their body and the tears finally settled down.

The storyteller wondered if they might have been affected by the spirit of someone who drowned during the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami.

The location is given as around Kaigan-dori 15-100, Shiogama City, Miyagi Prefecture. This is a real area connected to a major disaster, so visitors should approach respectfully, avoid disturbing residents or memorial spaces, and follow all local rules and access restrictions.
