Hekketsu-hi Monument in Hakodate: Rumored Spirits at an Old Battlefield Memorial

Japan’s Collective Self-Defense Debate: Why Supporters Say It Was Not a “War Bill”
目次

English Version

At Hekketsu-hi in Yachigashira, Hakodate, people say they have seen spirits or heard low groaning voices.

The rumor is tied to the idea that many soldiers died here long ago. Because of that history, some believe the area is haunted by numerous restless spirits, and that the strange groans heard nearby may be connected to them.

Location: Yachigashira 1, Hakodate City, Hokkaido.

If you visit, treat the site as a memorial space. Go during safe hours, stay on public paths, and be respectful of the area and local residents.
