Hotel New Naruko: An Abandoned Hot Spring Hotel Rumored to Ring From the Front Desk

The Death Tarot Card Isn’t Always Bad: Its Hidden Meaning
目次

English Version

Hotel New Naruko is said to be an abandoned hotel in the Naruko Onsen area of Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture.

According to local rumors, if someone enters the ruined building, the telephone at the front desk may suddenly begin to ring. When the receiver is picked up, a voice is said to whisper through the line: “It hurts… it’s hot…”

The story is often connected to a fire that allegedly broke out there long ago, in which many guests are said to have died. As with many abandoned-hotel legends, the details are difficult to verify, and the tale should be treated as rumor rather than confirmed history.

The site is reportedly a ruin, so travelers should not enter the property. Abandoned buildings can be structurally unsafe, and entering without permission may be illegal. If you are visiting Naruko Onsen for its hot springs or atmosphere, enjoy the area from public roads and legal viewpoints only.
