Marilyn Monroe was one of the defining actresses of the 20th century. As a sex symbol, she captivated the world, and her private life—marked by marriages, divorces, famous relationships, and alleged affairs—kept her constantly in the public eye.
But Monroe died at only 36 years old. Ever since then, her death has inspired countless theories. In recent years, one especially strange conspiracy theory has gained attention: that she learned the secrets of Area 51, tried to reveal them, and was killed because of it.
A Death Full of Unanswered Questions
Marilyn Monroe died on August 5, 1962. She was found by her maid at her home in Brentwood, a suburb of Los Angeles, lying naked on her bed.
After the autopsy, her cause of death was officially determined to be acute poisoning from an overdose of sleeping pills. However, several details at the scene have continued to fuel speculation.
According to accounts often cited in conspiracy theories, there was no glass near the bed, even though she would have needed water to take the pills. A telephone receiver was reportedly in her hand, but no call record remained. It is also said that a diary she had been writing had disappeared.
At the time, Monroe was rumored to have been involved with President John F. Kennedy and his brother, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. Because of those connections, some have suggested that agencies such as the CIA or FBI may have viewed her as a risk. From there, the theory goes even further: that she was assassinated by people connected to those organizations.
So why, according to this theory, would Monroe have had to die?
Some versions point to possible ties with the mafia. Others claim that after her relationships with the Kennedy brothers began, she learned information about extraterrestrials. When the relationships ended, the theory says, she tried to expose those secrets out of anger or revenge.
The Alleged Secret Document
In the 1990s, investigator Milo Speriglio, who had been looking into Monroe’s death, reportedly found a highly sensitive document among released CIA files.
The document was said to have been written on August 3, 1962, just before Monroe died. According to this account, the Kennedy brothers had told her national secrets during their relationships. When they later tried to end things, Monroe allegedly passed information to journalist Dorothy Kilgallen and intended to make it public.
Kilgallen herself later died after reportedly taking a large amount of medication, and her death was ruled a suicide in this version of the story. Because of that, conspiracy theorists often connect her fate with Monroe’s.
The secrets Monroe allegedly learned included information about a crashed spacecraft and bodies found inside it, as well as a presidential visit to a secret Air Force base where beings from space were supposedly being studied. The theory also links this to classified information about Area 51, sometimes referred to by the code name “Site Y,” and to the truth behind the Roswell incident.
The Roswell incident refers to the famous 1947 claim that a UFO crashed near Roswell, New Mexico, and that the U.S. government recovered and concealed both the craft and its contents. According to this conspiracy theory, the president had carelessly shared such classified information with someone he was romantically involved with.
A Theory of Assassination
In the darkest version of the story, government-related agencies supposedly decided Monroe had to be eliminated. Some even claim that President Kennedy himself knew about the plan.
The missing diary is often treated as an important clue in this theory. If Monroe had written national secrets in it, then conspiracy believers argue that it may have been taken from the scene.
Of course, these claims remain conspiracy theories, not confirmed facts. Still, they reflect a disturbing idea: if someone were to learn a government secret powerful enough, they might be silenced no matter who they were.
There are also theories that President Kennedy was later assassinated because he intended to reveal information about UFOs to the public. In more recent years, President Donald Trump made comments suggesting that such information might one day be made public.
Perhaps someday ordinary people will learn more about the secrets long rumored to be hidden by governments. Until then, stories like the one surrounding Marilyn Monroe’s death remain part Hollywood tragedy, part political mystery, and part UFO legend.

この 事態を重く見た政府関係機関は、彼女の暗殺を決定 しました。この暗殺事項はケネディ大統領本人も知っていたのです。先ほど紹介した、不可解な点の中にある彼女の日記が消えていたとありますが、その日記には、国の秘密が記載されていたため、回収されたと考えられます。この話が本当にあるとすれば、誰しも国の機密情報を知ってしまえば消されてしまう可能性もゼロではありませんし、相手が誰であろうと国の機密情報を守るためにはどんな手を使ってまで守りに来るとは、闇が深いですね。
