English Version
Lake Inawashiro is a large lake in Fukushima Prefecture, stretching across Aizuwakamatsu City, Koriyama City, and Inawashiro Town.
A local rumor says that people may feel as if they are being pulled or dragged into the water while riding a boat, or even when standing near the lakeshore. The story is usually told cautiously as a lake legend rather than a confirmed event.
Lake Inawashiro is also known for water-related accidents, and there have reportedly been suicides in the area as well. These real incidents may be part of why the lake has developed an unsettling reputation among some visitors.
One commonly mentioned area is around Funatsu, Konan-machi, Koriyama City, along Fukushima Prefectural Route 376.
If you visit, treat the lake as a real natural hazard, not just a haunted spot. Avoid entering the water in poor weather or after dark, follow posted warnings and local rules, and do not approach dangerous shoreline areas for the sake of a rumor.
