English Version

In Higashikagura, a town in Hokkaido’s Kamikawa District, there is a place rumored to be known as the “Devil’s House.” According to local stories, anyone who sets foot on the second floor is said to die.

The house is rumored to have been cursed by a demon through black magic. One of the strangest details in the legend is the chair in front of the entrance. It is said that if someone moves it or sits on it, they will be cursed, because doing so may release the demon that has been sealed inside.

Inside, a spiral staircase leads up to the second floor. Some accounts claim that a woman can be seen peering down from the top of the stairs. Others say they have heard a sound like something being dragged across the floor.

Does something spiritual still remain on the second floor? Or is the story simply one of Hokkaido’s many dark local rumors?

The location is said to be in Yachiyogaoka, Higashikagura, Kamikawa District, Hokkaido. If the site is private property or unsafe, do not enter without permission. Enjoy haunted places responsibly, from public areas only.
