Chitose-ro is an abandoned long-established ryokan in Tamanocho, Kasugai City, Aichi Prefecture, near Prefectural Route 205. Local rumors say that anyone who sets foot on the property may become possessed by spirits.
The inn reportedly opened in 1928. During its busiest years, it is said to have earned as much as 1 billion yen in annual revenue. Over time, however, sales declined, and in 2003 the business went bankrupt with debts of around 600 million yen.
After that, the operator is said to have disappeared, leaving the building unable to be demolished. The former inn fell into ruin and became a well-known abandoned site. As more people began entering illegally, incidents such as arson were also reported.
On August 14, 2012, a boy who had come to Chitose-ro for a test of courage called the police, saying there was a skeletonized body inside. When officers checked the site, they found a body in a seated position on the first floor of the building.
The remains were reportedly so badly decomposed that even the person’s sex could not be determined.
Chitose-ro is a dangerous abandoned property, and entering without permission is illegal. Travelers interested in haunted places should avoid trespassing and view any such location only from safe, public areas where permitted.

この地に足を踏み入れると霊に憑依されると言われている。千歳楼は1928年に改行した老舗旅館。客で賑わっていたころは年商10億円を稼いたとも言われていたが、徐々に売り上げが落ちて2003年には6億円の負債を抱えて倒産した。経営者が行方不明になり建物は取り壊すこともできず荒廃して廃墟となった。不法侵入する者が増え放火事件も起きている。2012年8月14日、千歳楼に肝試しにきていた少年から「白骨遺体がある」と通報があった。警察が確認しにいくと千歳楼1階から座った姿勢の遺体が発見された。
