Osaka Pass is a mountain road in Itano, Itano District, Tokushima Prefecture, rumored to be one of the area’s eerier late-night drives.
According to local stories, people who pass through the area after midnight have reported being chased by a car with no one inside. Other rumors mention sightings of a headless motorcyclist and the ghost of a woman along the road.
The pass is also said to be connected to deaths that occurred during the construction of the road, as well as accidents involving street racers. Because of this, the area is known for having many roadside Buddhist memorials and Jizo statues, including memorials associated with the unclaimed dead.
There are very few homes nearby, and foot traffic is scarce. Surrounded by dark mountains and quiet roads, Osaka Pass has the kind of isolated atmosphere that makes these ghost stories feel especially unsettling.
If you visit, go during safe conditions, avoid stopping in dangerous areas, and do not trespass or disturb any memorials.
