English Version
Oshima Island in Fukui is surrounded by unsettling rumors. Some say that if you visit late at night as a prank, you may end up bringing something back with you. Afterward, visitors are said to fall ill or experience a string of bad luck.
Because of the ocean currents, all kinds of things wash up on this island. Nearby is Tojinbo, often described in local rumor as one of Japan’s most notorious suicide spots. According to the legend, the spirits of those who died there with lingering regrets also drift ashore on Oshima.
For that reason, some people believe the strange phenomena reported on the island have an eerie explanation.
