Suzuran Pass: Ghost Sightings on a Curving Mountain Road in Miyagi

Yonaguni Monument: Okinawa’s Mysterious Underwater Ruins

English Version

Suzuran Pass is said to have a haunted reputation, especially around the first sharp curve when entering from the Sendai side.

According to local rumors, spirits are often seen near that bend. Some people also claim that, in the curve mirrors that appear one after another along the road, the reflection of a long-haired woman can sometimes be seen.

There is also a story that, long ago, the dismembered body of an elderly woman was found at Suzuran Pass. As with many roadside ghost stories, the details remain unclear, but the rumor has become part of the pass’s eerie image.

Suzuran Pass is located in Maekawa, Kawasaki Town, Shibata District, Miyagi Prefecture. If you visit or drive through the area, be careful on the curves, avoid stopping in unsafe places, and do not enter private or restricted property.
