English Version
This abandoned facility in Toyoake, Aichi Prefecture, is said to be a place where sightings of a female ghost are often reported.
Part of the fear comes from the name itself. In Japanese, “shūmatsu shorijō” is a practical term for a sewage or wastewater treatment facility, but the word “shūmatsu” can also sound like “the end” or “doomsday,” giving the place an especially grim atmosphere.
There is also a cemetery nearby, and over time the area is said to have become known as a local haunted spot.
The reported location is around Anocho Shoto, Toyoake City, Aichi Prefecture, near the Chiryū Bypass. If you are exploring the area, do not enter abandoned buildings, restricted land, or private property. View only from safe, legal public areas.
