Takako-numa Greenland is remembered as an abandoned amusement park in Fukushima City, and over the years it became one of Japan’s better-known “haunted ruins” online.
According to local rumors and ghost-story reports, visitors claimed to hear a woman’s voice near the roller coaster. Others said a male ghost appeared around the entrance. There were also frightening stories that the haunted house was “packed” with spirits, or that anyone who went there at night would lose their mind.
For more than a decade, the park reportedly stood quietly as a deserted amusement park. As photos of its eerie, overgrown rides spread online, its strange atmosphere drew attention from fans of abandoned places. During Japan’s broader ruins-exploration boom, even more rumors began to circulate.
The reason the park closed is also surrounded by conflicting stories. Some say someone fell to their death from the roller coaster. Others claim a couple died by suicide in the coffee cup ride. However, it remains unclear which, if any, of these stories are true.
