Rokkakudo: Ghost Sightings Near the Maeda Family Memorial Hall in Toyota, Aichi

Ghost Marriage in East Asia: The Chilling Custom of Marrying the Dead
目次

English Version

Rokkakudo, associated with the Maeda Family Memorial Hall in Hiratobashi-cho Namiiwa, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, is said to have drawn many reports of ghost sightings.

The unusual part is that the stories do not seem to focus on one specific spirit. Instead, people describe sightings of various kinds of apparitions, as if the area itself has become a gathering place for the dead.

Within the park, there are wells, memorial monuments, and several shrine-like structures dedicated to deities. Because of this, some wonder whether the surrounding spirits are strongly drawn to this spot.

Whether these accounts are folklore, rumor, or something stranger, Rokkakudo has gained a reputation as a place where many different presences may gather rather than a site haunted by a single ghost.

If you visit the area, be respectful of memorial spaces and religious structures, follow posted rules, and do not enter restricted areas or private property.
