Have you ever heard the name CERN?
CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, operates the Large Hadron Collider, or LHC—the world’s largest particle accelerator. It has appeared in popular anime and adventure games, and among fans of urban legends it has long had a suspicious reputation.
Is it a Satanic organization? Is it creating artificial earthquakes? Here are five dark rumors surrounding CERN, told as rumors and conspiracy theories rather than proven fact.
For travelers: CERN is a real research facility on the Swiss-French border. If you visit, use only official tours and public areas. Do not enter restricted facilities or attempt to explore without permission.
Rumor 1: Is CERN causing earthquakes?
CERN’s official purpose is to investigate the matter and energy believed to make up the universe.
In simple terms, scientists accelerate particles—the tiny building blocks of matter—to 99.7% of the speed of light, smash them together head-on, and study what happens when they break apart. The goal is to understand what the world and the universe are made of.
But according to one rumor, when CERN started operating the Large Hadron Collider, earthquakes began occurring frequently in various places.
The story claims that after the LHC began running, Switzerland experienced an unusual swarm of earthquakes. It also connects the 2011 restart of the LHC with the Great East Japan Earthquake, as well as a major earthquake in Chile. Since several earthquakes of magnitude 8.8 or higher occurred around that period, some people began whispering, “Is CERN’s real purpose to create artificial earthquakes?”
The exact mechanisms behind earthquakes are still complex and not fully understood. Some theories suggest that changes in magnetic fields may be related to seismic activity, and the LHC uses electromagnetic fields to accelerate particles.
Because of that, conspiracy believers argue that the two cannot be completely unrelated. The March 11 disaster in Japan has also been the subject of artificial-earthquake theories, though these remain rumors and are not established facts.
Rumor 2: The Shiva statue in the courtyard
Inside CERN stands a statue of Shiva.
This part is official and true. Still, some people find it strange: why would a Hindu god be placed at a scientific research facility in Switzerland?
Shiva is known as a god of destruction. According to Hindu belief, when the life of the world comes to an end, Shiva destroys the old world so that a new one can be created.
In 2015, around the time of the LHC’s restart, CERN released an official promotional video showing CERN scientists performing a dance associated with Shiva’s cosmic dance of destruction. To some viewers, this looked like evidence that the scientists had a special reverence for Shiva.
Were they trying to destroy existing common sense, matter, or even the world itself in order to create a new world?
The suspicion deepened when a video appeared online showing several people in black cloaks standing in front of the Shiva statue in CERN’s courtyard. In the footage, they appeared to stab a woman in a white dress who was lying on the ground.
It looked like a ritual sacrifice. Even more strangely, some viewers claimed the ritual resembled imagery associated with the famous conspiracy symbol of the Illuminati.
In conspiracy lore, the Illuminati is often described as a secret society above the Freemasons and is sometimes linked to Satanic worship. If the ritual truly resembled an occult ceremony, what did that mean?
The video caused an international stir, and CERN issued an official response. CERN acknowledged that the footage had been filmed on its grounds, but stated that it had not authorized the filming and described it as a malicious prank.
CERN also said it would conduct an internal investigation, but what happened afterward remains unclear. Some conspiracy fans felt the official response focused too much on the lack of filming permission and not enough on the disturbing content of the video.

Rumor 3: The CERN logo
Fans of urban legends know that 666 is often called the number of the beast.
Now look at the CERN logo, conspiracy theorists say. To those who want to see it, the shapes in the logo appear to hide the number 666.
Why would such a number be placed in a logo at all?
Some argue that it points to Satanic worship, as if CERN is quietly revealing itself as a devil-worshipping organization. CERN includes many scientists from European countries, where the Biblical meaning of 666 is well known. That makes believers wonder why the design would appear to contain the number so openly.
Of course, this is an interpretation of a logo, not proof. But in the world of occult rumors, even a design choice can become fuel for suspicion.
Rumor 4: Is “CERN” the name of a demon?
CERN is said to come from “Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire,” the original French name of the council created to prepare the research organization.
However, that preparatory council was dissolved once the organization began operating—yet the name CERN continued to be used.
Why keep that old name?
One rumor claims there is a deeper reason. It suggests that the name may come from Cernunnos, a Celtic god associated with hunting and the underworld.
Cernunnos is often depicted with two horns like a ram, and with imagery involving a goat and a snake. To some people, that resembles Baphomet, the goat-headed figure associated with occult and Satanic symbolism.
In fact, some occult interpretations identify Cernunnos with Baphomet. And Baphomet is often described as an object of worship in Satanic rituals.
So did CERN take its name from a demonic figure? That is the rumor—but again, it remains speculation.
Rumor 5: Is CERN trying to destroy the world with black holes?
The famous physicist Stephen Hawking also warned about the dangers of high-energy physics experiments, according to this rumor. He is often quoted as saying that further research could trigger a scenario involving the collapse of space-time.
Other fears include the possibility that CERN could create mini black holes, or even recreate conditions similar to the Big Bang.
Some scientists and critics have argued that these experiments could be extremely dangerous—dangerous enough, in the most extreme theories, to threaten the universe itself.
At the same time, CERN’s research has produced major results, including the discovery of the Higgs boson, sometimes called the “God particle” because it gives mass to other particles.
But conspiracy theorists ask: what if the same experiments are putting the universe at risk?
According to the rumors, if a mini black hole were created, it could pull in all surrounding matter, attract meteorites, and eventually consume and compress the Earth itself.
CERN has responded to concerns about mini black holes by saying they cannot be created in theory—and that even if they were somehow created, they would disappear immediately.
Still, skeptics argue that no one can be absolutely certain. Scientific predictions and hypotheses have been overturned many times in the past.
So why continue such dangerous experiments?
Some conspiracy fans believe CERN must be seeking something so valuable that it is willing to risk all of humanity to obtain it.

▼CERNの陰謀論を取り入れた名作ADV▼。ウワサその1 地震を起こしているのではないか？。。まず、CERNの表向きの実験の目的は「 宇宙にあるとされている物質、エネルギーの解明 」。モノを構成する物質である粒子同士を光の速さの99.7％にまで加速し、正面衝突させ、ぶつけて壊すことで 世界や宇宙は何から作られているのか？を見つける実験である。。その加速するための装置、 大型ハドロン衝突型加速器（LHC） を稼働させたところ、 各地で地震が頻発した 、という話があるのだ。
。CERNのあるスイスでは稼働し始めてから、前例のない群発地震が頻発。。さらに大型ハドロン衝突型加速器（LHC）を再稼働させた2011年3月、日本で東日本大震災、さらにチリの大地震が起こったとされている。連続してM8.8以上の地震が起きているのだ。。このことから「 CERNは人工地震を起こすことが真の目的なのか？」と囁かれるようになった。詳しい地震のメカニズムはまだまだ分からないことが多いが、地震は磁界の変化によって起こる説があり、大型ハドロン衝突型加速器（LHC）では電磁場を作ることで粒子を加速させている。
全く関係ないとは言い切れないのではないだろうか。あの3.11については人工地震であったという説も唱えられている…。ウワサその2 中庭にあるシヴァ神の像。。。CERNの中には シヴァ神の像 が置いてある。。これは公式の情報なので確実であるのだが、 なぜスイスにあるCERNの中にヒンドゥー教の神の像が…？と不思議に感じないだろうか？。シヴァ神は破壊の神 、破壊神とされ、世界の寿命がつきたとき、 古い今の世界を破壊して次の新しい世界を造るのだ と言われている。
。2015年、大型ハドロン衝突型加速器（LHC） の再稼働の際、 公式の動画としてCERNの科学者たちがシヴァ神の破壊の踊りを踊っているものがCMとして公開され 、その様子からも CERNの科学者たちのシヴァ神への信仰 が伺える。。今ある常識や物質、さらには世界を壊し、 新世界を造ろうとでもいうのだろうか…。。さらにCERNの中庭にあるシヴァ神の像の前で黒いマントを付けた数人の人物が、 横たわる白いワンピースを着た女性に刃物を突き立てる 、などという儀式の様子が流出したこともある。
まるで生贄をささげているような儀式だ。そしてその儀式がかの有名な「 イルミナティ 」のものと ソックリなのだというから驚き だ。。秘密結社フリーメイソンの上位にあたるイルミナティは悪魔崇拝でも知られる。悪魔崇拝の儀式に似ているというのはどういうことだろうか？。これには世界中で話題を呼び、公式が見解を出すほどの騒ぎとなった。公式によると「 この動画はCERNの施設内で撮られたもの 」であると認めたうえで、「 撮影の許可を出していない。たちの悪いいたずらだ 」と不快感を露わにしている。
この儀式の動画について内部調査をするとのことだが、その後の進展は不明。公式の見解についても動画撮影の許可を出していない、と的外れな部分を指摘していると感じないだろうか？。” 破壊神シヴァ””イルミナティ “。そして”新世界”。これらのキーワードが指すものとは一体…。。ウワサ3 CERNのロゴマーク。。出展: 。。666が悪魔の数字であることは都市伝説好きの方であればご存知だろう。。ここで CERNのロゴマーク をみていただきたい。分かる人には分かるように、666の数字が隠されているのが分かるだろうか。
。わざわざロゴマークに示すように666の数字を刻む意味。。。それは悪魔崇拝を指しているのではないだろうか？つまりCERNは悪魔崇拝の組織だと暗に示しているのだ。ヨーロッパの国々の科学者が多く参加しているCERN。日本よりも666の数字の意味はよく理解しているはず。にも関わらず、666という悪魔の数字をあからさまに記す意味を考えてしまわないだろうか。ウワサ4 “CERN”は悪魔の名前？。。。CERN（セルン）は「 Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire 」の頭文字をとったものだとされているが、これは直訳すると研究所設立準備理事会となる。
この研究所設立準備理事会は準備する際のもので、 稼働している現在ではすでに解散しているにも関わらず、CERNという名前を使い続けている のだ。なぜなのか？。それはCERNという名前に深い意味があるからだ、というウワサがある。ケルト神話の 狩猟の神にして冥府の神、ケンヌンノス（Cernunnos）から取ったのではないか？というのだ。。ケンヌンノスは頭に羊のような2本の角、手には山羊と蛇の巻き付いた杖を持つとされる。そう、羊頭の悪魔バフォメットと同じ姿をしていることに気付いただろうか。
実際にケンヌンノス＝バフォメットだと同一視されることもあるという。バフォメットと言えば悪魔崇拝の信仰の対象。CERNは名前すら悪魔から取ってしまったというのか？。ウワサ5 ブラックホールで世界を壊すための実験なのか。。かの有名な物理学者スティーブホーキング博士もCERNの実験には警鐘を鳴らしていた。「研究が進むと時空の崩壊というシナリオの引き金になる」 と。他にもミニブラックホールを作り出してしまう可能性や、 ビックバンを作り出してしまう可能性。
。宇宙の崩壊すら招きかねない、 とても危険な実験をしていると一部の科学者は批判している。。。CERNは全ての物質に質量を与えるという神の粒子「 ヒッグス粒子 」を世界で初めて発見するなど、その研究は成果をあげている。しかしその実験により宇宙が危機にさらされているというのだ。。ちなみにミニブラックホールを作り出してしまうと全ての物質が引き込まれて行き、隕石を引き寄せてしまうほか、地球すら取り込み、圧縮してしまうと言われている。。CERNはミニブラックホールの危険性についての反論では「理論上できない」とし、「 万が一出来たとしてもすぐに消えてしまう 」と回答している。
ただCERNであっても本当に大丈夫なのか？は誰にも分からない。今まで科学的な予測や仮説は何度も何度も裏切られてきた。。それではこのように危険な実験であるにもかかわらず、どうしてCERNは実験を行うのか？。そこには全人類を危険にさらしても得たい何かがあるのではないか？。そう考えるのは何も不思議ではない。。終わりに。今回はCERNのアヤシイウワサについて5つ紹介してきた。。他にも旅客機ワープ事件などまだまだ都市伝説的にも話題のCERN。今後今よりも大きな大型ハドロン衝突型加速装置の建設を計画中だそうだ。
もちろん実験内容も今以上に危険になることが予想される。みなさんはCERNのヤバイ実験についてどう思うだろうか？
