English Version

Sanzagaike Forest Park in Kamakura, Kanagawa, is said to have several unsettling rumors connected to Kamakura Lake inside the park.

According to local stories, the spirit of a child who drowned has been seen here. There are also rumors of a woman’s ghost, said to be connected to a suicide. Another legend claims that walking all the way around the lake may bring misfortune.

Kamakura Lake is an artificial lake completed in Meiji 2, or 1869. It is said that many children once drowned there, though the details are unclear. There are also rumors that the bodies of women, either by suicide or possible murder, were found in the area.

The park is located around 7-chome Imaizumidai, Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture. If you visit, treat it as a public nature area: stay on marked paths, avoid the water’s edge, do not enter restricted areas, and be respectful of local residents and other visitors.
