Nojima Park is a seaside park in Kanazawa Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. Today it is known for its observation deck, barbecue area, campground, baseball field, and views of Yokohama Bay. On clear days, visitors may be able to see the Boso Peninsula and even Mount Fuji, and at night the park is said to be popular with couples for its city lights.
The area also has historical sites, including the Former Ito Hirobumi Kanazawa Villa, a designated tangible cultural property of Yokohama, and the Nojima Shell Mound. In other words, Nojima Park is usually a normal recreational spot for families, couples, and local visitors.
But among ghost-story fans, the park has another reputation.
The Murder Rumor Connected to Nojima Park
One of the darkest stories associated with Nojima Park concerns a murder said to have occurred in 2009. According to the rumor, a man was killed with a chainsaw, his body was dismembered, and the remains were abandoned near the shore by Nojima Park.
The park is also linked in local ghost stories to other unsettling reports. Some say that many human bones were once found at a campground near another park a little distance away. Whether these incidents are directly connected to Nojima Park’s haunted reputation is unclear, but stories like these have helped create the image of the area as a place with a heavy atmosphere.

About 10 kilometers from Nojima Park is another well-known haunted history spot: the ruins of Toshoji Temple in Kamakura. The site is associated with the Harakiri Yagura cave, where it is said that around 870 members of the Hojo side took their own lives when the Kamakura shogunate fell.
Because of that history, Toshoji Temple Ruins is often mentioned together with other haunted locations in Kanagawa.
