Adolf Hitler is remembered as the Führer of Nazi Germany, the dictator who seized total power, promoted Aryan racial supremacy, and carried out the mass persecution and murder of Jewish people. In the usual textbook image, he is simply one of the worst dictators of the 20th century.
But when looking back over Hitler’s life, some details remain disturbing and difficult to explain. The facts of Nazi persecution are well documented, and some of the political causes are clear. Even so, questions remain about how Hitler arrived at the ideology that consumed him.
This installment in the Occult Nazis series looks at several episodes connected to the mystery of Hitler’s antisemitic beliefs.

The Mystery of Adolf Hitler
Hitler’s broad path as a politician began sometime after his return from World War I. According to one version of the story, he was ordered by his superiors to infiltrate a secret society known as the Thule Society as a spy. Before long, he rose into a leadership position in the organization that would become the basis for the later Nazi Party.
After that, Hitler gained power legally through elections, established the dictatorship for which he is now infamous, and drove Germany toward war.
But the point of interest here is not Hitler the dictator. It is Hitler before he entered politics.
Young Hitler Had Jewish Acquaintances
This is rarely emphasized in school history books, but before Hitler became a political dictator, he had contact with Jewish people in his personal life.
The first was Eduard Bloch, a Jewish doctor who treated Hitler’s mother, Klara, when she was suffering from breast cancer. At the time, Hitler was around 17 or 18 years old.
Dr. Bloch continued treating Klara diligently, even though he knew there was little hope of saving her. Klara eventually died of the illness, but Hitler apparently never forgot the gratitude he felt toward Bloch in his youth.
Even later, when Nazi Germany was carrying out state-sponsored persecution of Jewish people, Bloch was reportedly treated as an “honorary Aryan” and allowed to leave the country.
There are also accounts that, after his mother’s death, when the young Hitler inherited money and was trying to become a painter, several Jewish art dealers helped introduce him to customers.
In other words, at least during his youth, Hitler had personal connections with Jewish people.
A Change That Later Commentators Found Difficult to Explain
Details about Hitler’s youth were later recorded in a memoir by August Kubizek, who is often described as Hitler’s only close friend from that period and who met him again later in life.
Werner Maser, a well-known Hitler researcher, evaluated Hitler’s knowledge and abilities, but also stated that it was not easy to answer why Hitler became so obsessed with persecuting Jewish people.
Hitler’s ideology became extreme: he believed that the so-called Aryan race, associated with ancient Germanic peoples, was the highest form of humanity, while other races were inferior. Nazi policy scapegoated Jewish people, who were perceived as holding significant financial assets within Germany, and pushed preferential treatment for so-called pure-blooded Germans. This helped the Nazis gain support inside the country.
The result was the oppression of Jewish people in Germany and the mass murder of many Jewish people in occupied Poland.
What Changed Hitler’s Thinking?
Although Hitler had contact with Jewish people in his youth, after his alleged involvement with the Thule Society—the group described here as a predecessor to the Nazi Party—his views and ideology appear to have changed dramatically.
Why?
The Thule Society is often described as a mystical ideological group with an interest in occultism. Its beliefs reportedly included the idea that the Aryan race was the highest human race on Earth. Some accounts also connect its worldview to legends of Agartha, a mythical underground world, as well as stories from Germanic mythology.
There was also said to be a person who taught Hitler the concept of geopolitics while he was imprisoned after the failed anti-government action known as the Beer Hall Putsch in Munich. While imprisoned, Hitler organized his beliefs into the book that would become a kind of bible for Nazi Germany: Mein Kampf.
Films inspired by Hitler’s younger years have also depicted him coming into contact with Jewish people. Some of these works portray, in a speculative way, how groups such as the Thule Society may have influenced the transformation of his beliefs.
For those interested in the darker intersection of history, occult rumors, and political extremism, this remains one of the most unsettling mysteries surrounding the rise of Nazi ideology.

。青年期のヒトラーはユダヤ人と付き合いがあった。。歴史の教科書などにはほとんど登場することはないが、 実はヒトラー自身は政治家として独裁を振るう前にユダヤ人との交流を持っている。。1人目はヒトラーが17～18歳のころ、ヒトラーの母であるクララが乳がんに侵された際に最後まで治療にあたったユダヤ人の医師「 エドゥアルド・ブロッホ 」である。。画像引用元： エドゥアルド・ブロッホ 。医師であるブロッホはクララが助かる見込みのないことを知りながら懸命な治療を続けていた。
治療の後に母親のクララは病死してしまうが、ヒトラーはこの少年期の感謝を忘れておらず、国家を挙げてユダヤ人を迫害した時にも 「名誉アーリア人」として国外への脱出を許可 している。また、母親と死に別れて遺産を持って 画家を目指していた青年期には複数人のユダヤ人画商に顧客を紹介してもらった という。つまり、ヒトラーは少なくとも青年時代にはユダヤ人との交流があったのだ。。後世の評論でも謎とされる思想の変化。。青年期のヒトラー様子は、後に再会することになる唯一の親友「アウグスト･クビツェク」によって晩年に回顧録が出版されている。
また、ヒトラー研究家として高名なワーナー・メイザー氏はヒトラーの知識や才能などを評価した上で「 何故、ヒトラーがユダヤ人迫害に囚われたのかを答えるのでは容易ではない 」としている。ヒトラーの思想は古代ゲルマン民族と呼ばれたアーリア人種こそ至高の存在であり、その他の人種は劣等生物であるという極端なものであった。ナチス・ドイツの政策は国内で金融資産を多く握っていたユダヤ人をスケープゴートし、 純血のドイツ人に対する優遇を推し進めて国内での支持を獲得する ことに成功。
その結果、国内のユダヤ人を弾圧し、占領下においたポーランドにおいて多数のユダヤ人を虐殺することになる。。ヒトラーの思想の変化とは？。。青年時代のヒトラーはユダヤ人と交流があったにも関わらず、ナチ党の前身となった「トゥーレ協会」に潜入してからは、明らかに考え方や思想に変化が見え始める。なぜか？。そもそも「トゥーレ協会」は神秘主義を掲げた思想集団であり、オカルティズムに傾倒していたと言われている。トゥーレ協会の思想はアーリア人種こそが地上で最高の人類であり、背景には幻の地下世界と言われていた「アガルタ」の存在や、ゲルマン神話などの伝説が関わっているとも言われている。
