Above the tunnel entrance, there is said to be a carving of a tiger. According to local rumor, the tiger moves at night. It is also said that anyone who takes a photo of it may be cursed.
There was apparently once a dragon carving as well, but at some point it vanished.
After the newer Kamo Tunnel opened, the Old Kamosaka Tunnel had served its purpose. Today, it is known as a sealed-off haunted spot, though many details remain unclear.
The site is associated with the Kamo Bypass area in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. Because the tunnel is reportedly closed, visitors should not attempt to enter it or cross barriers. If you go looking for the area, stay on legal public roads and be mindful of local traffic and residents.
