The Uji River Line is a winding road along the Uji River, officially part of Shiga Prefectural Road / Kyoto Prefectural Road 3, the Otsu–Nango–Uji Line. Among local ghost stories, it is often linked to sightings of strange figures standing by the roadside, as well as rumors of a rider with a crushed head who keeps riding on — the classic “headless rider” type of legend.
There are also accounts of people seeing someone standing blankly on a bridge late at night.
The road is said to be a sacred route for street racers. According to the rumors, many have taken corners at reckless speed, failed to turn in time, and plunged into the dam lake, while others have collided with oncoming cars.
Yoimachi Bridge, said to be the only T-junction on the Uji River Line, also has a reputation as a place associated with suicide jumps. One story claims that anyone who sinks into the lake there is carried downstream and eventually washes up at Amagase Dam.
The area has also been connected to a serial murder case as a site where bodies were dumped. For that reason, many people regard the Uji River Line as a place with an especially heavy, unsettling atmosphere.
If you visit, remember that this is a real mountain road with sharp curves and traffic risks. Do not stop in unsafe places, enter restricted dam areas, or treat local roads as a sightseeing attraction after dark. Follow traffic rules and keep a respectful distance from any bridges, water, and roadside areas.

道路脇に人が立っているのを目撃したとか、首が潰れたライダーが、そのまま走っている（いわゆる首なしライダー）の噂がよく聞かれている。深夜に橋の上にぼーっと立っている人を見たという目撃談もある。宇治川ラインは走り屋たちの聖地であるという。猛スピードでコーナーに突っ込んだ後、曲がりきれずにダムの湖面にダイブしてしまったダイバー、対向車に衝突するダイバーは数知れない。宇治川ライン唯一のT字路である宵待橋も、飛び降り自殺の名所といわれる。ここで湖に沈んだ者はそのまま下流まで流され、天ヶ瀬ダムで打ち上がるという。
そのほかにも連続殺人事件の死体遺棄現場ともなったこともあり、とにかく霊力が強い場所となっていることは疑いようがない。滋賀県道・京都府道3号大津南郷宇治線
