There are said to be reports of a woman’s ghost being seen here around midnight.
Near the entrance to the old tunnel, a stone stairway reportedly climbs up toward the top of the tunnel. According to one eyewitness account, a woman was standing partway up those steps, looking down toward the tunnel below.
At first, the witness apparently did not realize she was anything supernatural. They only wondered what a woman could be doing there so late at night. But in the next moment, after they noticed something was wrong, her figure had vanished.
A stone monument is also said to stand near the tunnel. Whether it has any connection to the rumored apparition is unclear.
The site is associated with Asahi-cho Hongo in Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture. If you visit the area, avoid entering restricted or unsafe places, be careful on dark roads, and respect local residents and property.

真夜中に女性の霊を見かけたと言う報告がある模様。トンネルの入り口近くにトンネルの上部まで続く石段があり、その途中で女性がトンネルを見下ろしていたという。目撃者の報告によると、はじめは霊と気付かずこんな夜遅くに何をしているのかと訝しがったものの、ふと気付いたその一瞬ののちに、その女性の姿は消えていたという。トンネルの近くには石碑が建っているというが、何か関係があるのだろうか。島根県浜田市旭町本郷
