Osazawa Marsh and the nearby Osazawa Park in Daisen, Akita, are associated with several local ghost stories and unsettling rumors.
According to one account, someone’s senior took a photo of the wooded area in Osazawa Park, only to find what looked like numerous faces appearing in the image afterward. As with many spirit-photo stories, the details are unclear, but the tale has helped give the park a haunted reputation.
There are also rumors that multiple people have died by suicide in the pond near the park. One story says that, years ago, a bus driver drove into the pond and died by suicide. Another rumor claims that someone hanged themselves behind the restroom located below the park.
The reported location is around Osazawa, Kariwano, Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. If you visit, treat the area as a real public place: stay on open paths, avoid restricted or dangerous areas, do not enter at night unprepared, and be respectful of local residents and any real tragedies connected to the site.
