English Version

Old Utsu Tunnel is said to be a haunted spot in Tenoko, Iide Town, Nishi-Okitama District, Yamagata Prefecture.

According to local rumors, someone once took a photo of a car near the tunnel and later noticed what looked like many human faces reflected in the rear window. The area is also said to have a history of people dying there, including those who may have met unfortunate or restless deaths.

Another story claims that a phantom truck can sometimes be seen around the site. The location is also known as an accident-prone area, which adds to its unsettling reputation.

If you visit, do not stop in dangerous places, enter restricted areas, or block traffic. Mountain roads and old tunnels can be hazardous, especially at night, so treat the area with caution and respect.
