Senshu Tunnel is associated with rumors of repeated sightings of a woman’s ghost. Another story says that if you honk your horn inside the tunnel, the blood-covered head of a woman will fall onto the hood of your car.
According to the rumor, a woman once died by hanging herself from a tree near the tunnel exit. After that incident, stories of ghost sightings in the area are said to have begun.
The tunnel is connected to the area around Senshu Park 1 in Akita City, Akita Prefecture. If you visit, do so safely and respectfully: do not stop inside the tunnel, block traffic, trespass, or disturb nearby residents.
