Sekiyama Tunnel, located on National Route 48 in Sekiyama, Higashine City, Yamagata Prefecture, is tied to several local ghost rumors.
One story says that the spirit of a woman with a child appears in the area. Another claims that, for white cars only, a ghost may suddenly be seen riding in the back seat.
There is also said to be a phone booth near the Sendai-side entrance of the tunnel that has become a gathering place for spirits. Among the reported sightings, a long-haired woman is mentioned especially often.
