English Version
Tokiwa Youth Nature House is said to have 23 rooms inside the facility. According to local rumors, there is one room among them that should not be used.
On several occasions in the past, the room was reportedly opened because of the number of guests staying at the facility. When it was used, strange incidents were said to occur: the entire room filling with a white mist, the feeling that someone was watching from the window, and marks like bloodstains appearing on the closet doors.
The stories do not end inside the building. It is also said that if someone goes outside the facility late at night, people from Nakano Ward in Tokyo may experience something especially strange. A presence reportedly taps them on the shoulder from behind and asks, “Are you from Nakano?”
The legend is connected to a wartime story. When the Pacific War intensified, an elementary school from Nakano Ward is said to have evacuated to this area. However, one week after the evacuation, an air raid warning reportedly sounded even at the place where the children had fled.
In panic, the students and teachers escaped into nearby Mount Kamakura, but they are said to have vanished without a trace.
The location associated with this story is in the area of 5 Kajika, Yamane, Tokiwa-machi, Tamura City, Fukushima Prefecture. If visiting the area, respect any posted rules, do not enter restricted buildings or private property, and avoid exploring at night or in unsafe conditions.
