Old Inunaki Tunnel, located around Inunaki Pass in Miyawaka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is often described as one of Japan’s most notorious haunted places. Rumors claim that all kinds of paranormal phenomena have been witnessed there, making it a major name among fans of Japanese ghost spots.
According to urban legend, a sign at the tunnel entrance once read, “Beyond this point, the Constitution of Japan does not apply.” Another story claims that anyone who sets foot inside will never return. These eerie tales are also tied to the broader legend of Inunaki Village, a supposed isolated settlement beyond the tunnel.
The area is also known for a horrific real-world incident. A 20-year-old man was reportedly confronted by a group of young delinquents he did not know and subjected to a group assault. Fearing that the crime would be discovered, the perpetrators allegedly took him deep into the forest, attacked him further, poured gasoline over his head, and set him on fire.
