Peko-chan House is an urban legend tied to a house in Yoshino, Kagoshima. According to the rumor, there is a cursed notebook inside the home. Anyone who looks at it will find a message saying something like, “You will die in ___ days,” allowing them to see how much time they supposedly have left to live.
There is also a rumor that someone who read the notebook was later sent to a psychiatric hospital. As with many haunted-place stories in Japan, this detail is difficult to verify and should be treated as local folklore rather than confirmed fact.
The name “Peko-chan House” is said to come from an alleged family suicide involving a gas explosion. The story claims that when the family died, their tongues were sticking out, making them look like Peko-chan, the well-known Japanese mascot with her tongue out. However, whether this origin story is true is uncertain.
