Sedomura-zaka: Rumors of a Haunted Slope in Sagamihara, Kanagawa

The Unsolved Nagaokakyo Warabi-Picking Murders: What Happened in the Kyoto Hills, Part 2
目次

English Version

Sedomura-zaka is a slope in Kamimizo, Chuo Ward, Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, near a JR Sagami Line railroad crossing.

According to local rumors, people who pass through on rainy nights may hear the voice of a young girl. Others say that when the lights of a JR Sagami Line train pass over the crossing at the top of the hill, the shadow of a girl appears for a moment.

The stories are often linked to a tragic incident that occurred here in February 1984, when a 7-year-old girl was abducted and murdered in the area. It is also said that an elderly man once died by suicide at the railroad crossing at the top of the slope.

Because this is a real residential area and an active railway crossing, visitors should be quiet, respectful, and careful. Do not enter private property or railway areas, and avoid blocking roads or disturbing local residents.
