English Version

At the site known as 21st Century Forest in Sasami, Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, along the historic Hagi Ōkan route, several strange stories have been reported over the years.

According to local rumors, people who park their cars there sometimes feel as if someone—or something—is inside the vehicle with them. Others say accidents have happened on the way home after visiting the area.

One detail often mentioned is a particular space in the parking lot where parking is oddly prohibited, even though it does not appear to block the movement of other cars. Some claim that a woman once died by self-immolation at that spot.

Whether that rumor is connected to the reported phenomena is unknown. As with many haunted-place stories, the details remain unverified, but the unsettling atmosphere has made the location a point of interest for ghost-story fans.

If you visit, do so only during permitted hours, follow all posted signs, avoid restricted areas, and drive carefully on the mountain roads.
