Old Wada Tunnel is said to be a haunted spot in Akita City, Akita Prefecture, around Yuwa Araya Shinmachi 5.
According to local stories, many of the apparitions reported here are said to be children. The tunnel is described as having existed before National Route 13 was built. At the time, it reportedly had only a vehicle roadway, and pedestrians who passed through were struck by cars and died.
These accounts are best treated as local rumors rather than confirmed history, but they are the source of the tunnel’s eerie reputation. If you visit the area, check current access conditions, avoid closed or private property, and never walk through active road tunnels or unsafe roadways.
