The former Hachioji Chuo Hospital site in Sanyumachi, Hachioji, Tokyo, is associated with several unsettling rumors.
According to local stories, people heard a man’s voice coming from the morgue. A telephone with no connected line was said to have rung. Curtains at a closed window reportedly lifted and fluttered, even though the window itself was shut.
One story says that someone who went there with a group walked over to one of the beds that had been left behind. After lying down on it, they suddenly began to suffer or struggle as if something were wrong.
Another part of the legend claims that the hospital director suddenly disappeared. After that, the hospital was supposedly closed and became an abandoned hospital.
There is also a different rumor: that the director did not vanish, but was stabbed to death by a male patient who had been hospitalized in the psychiatric ward.
Reported location: 461 Sanyumachi, Hachioji, Tokyo.
If visiting the area, respect private property, posted signs, and local residents. Do not enter abandoned or restricted buildings, as they may be dangerous or off-limits.
