Shin-Misato Tunnel is known among local ghost-story fans as a haunted spot in Misato, Saitama. What makes it unusual is its location: it sits near busy, easy-to-access places such as LaLaport, H&M, and Nitori, rather than deep in the mountains or an abandoned area.
According to local rumors, the municipal bulletin once issued a special notice advising people to avoid using the tunnel as much as possible. The tunnel has long been said to be haunted, but some accounts claim the place where the ghosts truly appeared was not the present tunnel itself. That location has reportedly already been filled in. Even so, at the time, the story was covered by television and other media, and people continued to share alleged encounters and sightings.
The Name Locals Use
Although it is often called Shin-Misato Tunnel by locals and haunted-spot enthusiasts, that is apparently not its official name. It is said to be formally known as Uneme Guard or Uneme Tunnel. Uneme is the name of the area where Shin-Misato is located.
The land is said to have once included a cemetery district. One rumor claims that when the tunnel was built, proper purification rites were not performed, leaving the spirits of the dead, or those who had rested in the graves, to wander.
Reported Phenomena
Shin-Misato Tunnel is often described as a particularly dangerous haunted spot, and several kinds of paranormal phenomena have been reported there.
People who are sensitive to spirits, or who have unusually sharp intuition, are sometimes warned that they could be “pulled in.” This is only a rumor, but it is one reason locals advise against treating the place like a casual dare.
One frequently mentioned apparition is a woman in traditional clothing. Since the area is said to have once contained graves, some wonder if she could be the spirit of a woman who was buried there long ago. Traditional clothing is not something most modern women wear except for special occasions, so the story is often interpreted as pointing to a much older presence.
The Motorcycle Accident Rumor
Another story involves a motorcycle accident right in front of the tunnel. Witnesses supposedly saw a bike crash, with broken parts and gasoline flowing into the tunnel.
But after looking away for only a moment, the entire scene was said to have vanished, leaving no trace of the accident at all.
Stories of people falling from motorcycles in this area are also said to be common. The road is not known as especially slippery, which makes the rumors stand out. In some versions, scattered bike parts and gasoline were visible one moment, then completely gone the next, as if nothing had happened.
The Woman in the Tunnel
One account describes someone passing through the tunnel late at night and seeing a woman standing in the middle of it. Thinking it was strange for a woman to be there at that hour, the witness was about to call out to her.
Then, according to the story, she disappeared as if she had been absorbed into the wall.
The driver continued toward the exit, unsettled by what had happened. Then, another woman reportedly fell from the ceiling in front of the car. When the driver stopped again and looked around, there was nothing there.
Hands From the Wall
There is also a rumor that countless hands have appeared from the tunnel wall.
One explanation sometimes given is that old gravestones were moved when the area was developed, but the remains inside the graves were not. Whether or not that story is true, some people connect it to the alleged sighting of hands reaching out from the wall, as if the spirits beneath the area were expressing their resentment.
Because of these stories, the tunnel is not considered a place to approach lightly. Some locals describe it as a place where malevolent spirits linger and try to drag in anyone who comes too close.
If you are visiting the Shin-Misato area, remember that this is a real urban location with traffic and nearby businesses. Do not stop inside or near the tunnel, enter restricted areas, block roads, or visit in unsafe conditions. Treat local residents, drivers, and posted rules with respect.

新三郷トンネルの噂。新三郷トンネルは「ララポート」「H&M」「ニトリ」などの比較的に人が集まりやすいところにある心霊スポットです。この「新三郷トンネル」は市報にて特別な通達がされました。「なるべくトンネルを通らないように」と。。実際、このトンネルは幽霊がでると噂されていますが、本当に幽霊が出るのはこのトンネルではないとされています。現在 幽霊が出るといわれていた場所は、すでに埋め立てが行われており ます。しかし、当時はテレビなどのメディアに多く取り上げられ、霊体験や目撃情報が絶えなかったそうです。
実は名称が違う。新三郷トンネルという名前で地元民や心霊スポット通ではそういわれています。実は 正式名称は違う そうです。「采女ガード（うねめがーど）」「采女トンネル（うねめとんねる）」 。采女とは新三郷がある土地の名前です。昔は墓地の地区にあったそうです。トンネルを作る際にしっかりとしたお祓いなどを行わなかったため亡くなった方やお墓に眠っていた霊が彷徨っている といわれています。新三郷トンネルで目撃されている心霊現象。心三郷トンネルは危険度の高い心霊スポットと言われており、この場所ではいろいろな心霊現象が確認されているのです。
霊感が強い人や感覚が鋭い人などは引っ張り込まれてしまう可能性もあるそうなので注意が必要です。和服の女。昔その場所は墓地だった区域もあり、もしかしたらその場所で眠っていた女性の霊がさまよっているのでしょうか？。和服というのは現代の女性が着るのは限られた行事でしかないため、可能性としてはかなり昔の人の魂が彷徨っているとでもいうのでしょうか？。バイク事故。幽霊の目撃情報は以下の通りです。トンネルの目の前でバイクの転倒事故が起き、バイクの破片やガソリンなどの残骸がトンネルの中に流れ込んでいました。
しかし、 少しだけ目を離しただけで何事もなかったかのように事故現場には何もない状態 になっていました。たたずむ女性。夜中にトンネルを通った際、 トンネルの真ん中に女性が立っているのが見えました。。こんな夜中に女性がいるのはおかしいと思い、声をかけようとすると 壁に吸い込まれるように姿を消していった そうです。おかしいと思い出口に向かって車に走らせていると、 今度は天井から女性が落ちてきた のです。再び車を止め見渡したがそこには何もなかったそうです。
壁から生えてきた無数の手。昔その場所に墓石があったといわれていますが、一説によると 墓石は移動したが墓の内部の遺骨は移動していない と言われているのです。それが原因かもわかりませんが、 壁から無数の手が生えてきたという目撃情報がある のです。もしかしたら、そこに 眠る霊たちの無念さが現れている可能性 があります。あまり、遊び半分で近づくような場所ではないことが確かです。悪霊が住みついているそうで近寄る人は構わずあの世へ引きずりこもうとするらしいです。
そのため興味本位で近づくのは絶対にやめろと念を押されました。多数の人からバイクで転んだという話をよく聞きます。もちろん滑りやすいわけでもなくなんでもない道です。中には転倒したバイクの破片やガソリンが辺りに散らばっていたのに少し目を離した隙に何事もなかったかのように綺麗になっていたという噂も。埼玉県三郷市新三郷ららシティ３丁目２?１
