Hotel Island is known locally as a haunted spot that even nearby residents are said to avoid.
According to the rumor, the place was once a hospital, and many people died there. Because of that history, stories about spirits have continued to circulate around the site.
One tale involves two men and two women who went there together on a ghost-hunting trip. One of the women, who was said to be especially sensitive to spirits, insisted that she absolutely did not want to go any farther. She said she would wait in the car, so both women stayed behind while the two men walked around the area by themselves.
After the men made a full circuit and returned, one of them asked the women, “Were you outside?”
One of the women thought he was probably joking and trying to scare them. But the more spiritually sensitive woman later said she had known the whole time that another woman had been standing beside the car after the men left. She had stayed silent because she thought the other woman would be terrified if she mentioned it.

地元の人も寄りつかない場所で有名な心霊スポットです。ここは、昔病院だったとこともあって、沢山の死者がでたそうです。男女2組で心霊ツアーに行った際、霊感が強い女性の一人はどうしても行きたくないと言い張り、車中で待つと言った為、女性2人は車で待つことになりました。男性2人だけで周囲を一周し、戻るや男性の一人が、「外にでてたの？」と女性に聞きました。女性のうち1人は、冗談で怖がらせようとしているのだろうと思いましたが、もうひとりの霊感の強い方の女性は、男たちが心霊ツアーに行ってから、ずっと車の横に女性がいたのを知っていましたが、もうひとりの女の子が怖がると思って言えなかった、ということだそうです。
