English Version
Jogakura Ohashi Bridge, located along National Route 394 in Arakawa, Aomori City, is surrounded by unsettling rumors, especially after dark.
According to local stories, the spirits of people who died by suicide are often seen at night. Some say that if you look down from the bridge toward the river, a ghost may be staring back up at you. Others claim that a spirit might try to pull people in, or that visitors can suddenly feel an unconscious urge to jump from the bridge.
The bridge is also said to have had many suicide incidents. Because of that, some rumors describe a tragic cycle: spirits gather where deaths have occurred, and those spirits, in turn, draw in more people.
These are local legends and rumors, not confirmed facts. If you visit Jogakura Ohashi Bridge, do so safely and respectfully. Stay in permitted areas, avoid leaning over railings, be careful of traffic and weather conditions, and do not visit in a distressed state or encourage risky behavior.
