Yukawa Dam: A Foggy Haunted Spot Near Karuizawa Bridge

Kaimon Tunnel in Kagoshima: Ghost Stories from One of Kyushu’s Most Haunted Roads
目次

English Version

Yukawa Dam is rumored to be a place where the spirits of people who died at Karuizawa Ohashi Bridge drift downstream and wander. On especially foggy days, visitors say the atmosphere becomes even heavier, and there are stories of encounters with various apparitions.

The dam sits just off the main road and is located very close to Karuizawa Ohashi Bridge, one of the area’s best-known haunted spots. Because of that proximity, Yukawa Dam is often feared as a spiritual danger zone on the same level as the bridge itself.

The location is in Miyota, Kitasaku District, Nagano Prefecture, near Prefectural Route 157.

If you visit, be careful around roads, water, and dam facilities, especially in fog or after dark. Do not enter restricted areas, ignore posted signs, or trespass on private or managed property.
