Yagiyama Bridge in Sendai has long been known locally as a place connected with suicides, and it is also the subject of many unsettling rumors.
People have reported strange experiences while crossing the bridge, such as hearing a voice calling from behind them or seeing a shadowy figure climbing the protective wire fencing meant to prevent falls.
Today, tall suicide-prevention fences have been installed, but reports suggest they have not completely stopped tragic incidents from occurring from time to time.
The bridge is located in Kawauchi, Taihaku Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. If you visit, do so only from public areas, follow all posted rules, and be respectful: this is a real place associated with real loss, not just a ghost story setting.
