The Rumor
According to local rumor, a single paper airplane was once seen flying inside this tunnel. The story says it emerged onto the national road above, then continued flying off in the direction of Akita.
Another version of the tale suggests that, long ago, a child who had been playing in this tunnel was involved in an accident.
As with many roadside ghost stories, the details are unclear and should be treated as rumor rather than confirmed history. If you visit the area, stay on public roads, avoid entering restricted or dangerous places, and be especially careful around tunnels and traffic.
