Amagase Dam in Uji, Kyoto: Headless Rider Rumors and Haunted Roads

Musicians Rumored to Have Sold Their Souls to the Devil
目次

English Version

Amagase Dam is located in Uji, Kyoto, in the Uji Kanaido area. Around the roads near the dam, there are rumors of a ghostly “headless rider” appearing to drivers at night.

The area is also said to be known as a suicide spot, and various strange stories have been reported around the lake. Some people claim that while driving along the lakeside roads, their car suddenly begins to malfunction or behave oddly.

As with many haunted-place rumors in Japan, these stories should be treated as local folklore rather than confirmed events. If you visit Amagase Dam, go during safe hours, stay on public roads and permitted areas, and avoid stopping in dangerous places or disturbing local residents.
