One theory claims that Adolf Hitler, the Führer of Nazi Germany, was a hard-nosed realist in politics while also placing great faith in spiritual forces such as mysticism, esotericism, and astrology.
The Thule Society, often described as a precursor to the Nazi Party, was a gathering place for mystics. Hitler himself was famously devoted to Wagner’s The Ring of the Nibelung, a cycle of operas rooted in Germanic myth. And among the objects Nazi Germany is said to have acquired during the war years was one of Christianity’s most famous relics: the Spear of Longinus.
Hitler and the Spear of Longinus
Hitler is said to have obtained the Spear of Longinus in 1938, when Austria was annexed by Nazi Germany. The spear was reportedly among the treasures owned by the Habsburgs at the time.
According to this legend, when Hitler first saw the spear, he described the experience in striking terms:
> I stood before the spear and silently stared at it for several minutes. Then I felt as if it were violently awakening something that had been sleeping deep inside me… or something I had long avoided looking at directly. > > And I felt as though I had held that spear once before, centuries before I was born. I felt that I had taken it in my hands and tried to seize the world with it.
If this quote is accepted as part of the legend, it suggests why some people believe Hitler—and perhaps Nazi Germany itself—placed faith in unseen powers, reincarnation, mysticism, and old traditions.
Holy Relics and Ancient Wisdom
During World War II, Hitler and Nazi Germany are said to have sent expeditions and research teams around the world in search of traces of an ancient Aryan past. One rumor claims they searched for the legendary underground city of Agharta, supposedly built long ago by the Aryan race.
Other stories say they looked in Tibet for an entrance to the subterranean empire known as Shambhala, and even extended their search as far as the North Pole while pursuing “ancient wisdom.”
Among the forms of ancient wisdom that fascinated these occult legends were Christian holy relics. The best-known are said to include the Spear of Longinus, which pierced the side of Christ; the Holy Grail, which received Christ’s blood; and the cloth that wrapped Christ’s body.
Of these, the only one Hitler is said to have obtained was the Spear of Longinus.
Strangely, according to the legend, the period when Hitler possessed the spear overlaps with the years when Nazi Germany seemed almost unstoppable.
The Lost Spear and the Fall of the Third Reich
A tradition surrounding the Spear of Longinus says that whoever holds it gains the power to conquer the world—but whoever loses it is doomed to destruction.
Hitler is said to have acquired the spear in 1938, the year before the invasion of Poland. From 1939 onward, Nazi Germany spread violently across Europe, attempting to bring the continent under its control.
But in 1945, as the war turned against Germany, the sacred spear kept in a church in Nuremberg was reportedly recovered by American forces.
That same year, Hitler died by suicide, and the Third Reich collapsed completely.
At the very least, when the legend of “Hitler and the Spear of Longinus” is viewed as a timeline—from possession to loss—it leaves behind an eerie suggestion of cause and effect.
For travelers interested in sites connected to these legends, remember that many are churches, museums, or protected historic places. Always follow local rules, respect restricted areas, and do not trespass.

ナチスの総統アドルフ・ヒトラーは政治方針には徹底的な現実主義者であった一方で、その膨大な知識や知恵を神秘学や密教、占星術など霊的なものに委ねていたとされる説がある。ナチ党の前団体である「 トゥーレ協会 」は神秘主義者の集まりであったし、ヒトラー自身もドイツの神話を舞台化したワーグナーの「ニーベルンゲンの指輪」という演目を愛してやまなかった。そして、ナチス・ドイツが戦時中に入手したとされるのが、キリストの聖遺物の1つであるロンギヌスの槍である。

そして私はその槍を自分が生まれる以前、数世紀前にも一度手にしていたような気がした。私はその槍を持って世界を手中に収めようとしていた・・・そう感じたのだ。」。この言葉から分かることは、輪廻転生や神秘学、または言い伝えや伝承において、ヒトラーはもちろんナチス・ドイツという国家がその「 見えない力 」を信じていたのではないか？というものである。聖遺物とヒトラー。。第二次大戦当時、ヒトラー及びナチス・ドイツは世界各国に探検隊や調査隊を送り込み、自分たちアーリア人種がかつて地下に築いていたとされる幻の都市【アガルタ】を探索していたと言われている。
また、チベットではシャンバラと呼ばれる地下帝国の入り口を求めていたり、北極点にまでその捜索範囲を広げて「古代の叡智」を探し続けていた形跡がある。そんな古代の叡智の1つが、キリストに関わる「 聖遺物 」であった。聖遺物とは、キリストの脇腹を貫いた「ロンギヌスの槍」、キリストの血を受けた「聖杯」、キリストの遺体を包んだ「布」の3つが挙げられる。この中で、ヒトラーが唯一入手したものがロンギヌスの槍であったと言われているのだ。不思議なことに、ヒトラーがロンギヌスの槍を入手したと言われている期間は、ナチス・ドイツはまさに敵なしという状態であった。
ロンギヌスの槍の消失と第三帝国の崩壊。。ロンギヌスの槍という聖遺物には「 手にしたものには世界を手中に収める力が宿る。しかし失ったものには滅びる 」という伝承が残っているのである。ヒトラーがロンギヌスの槍を入手したのはポーランド侵攻前年の1938年であり、その翌年である1939年からヨーロッパ全土を手中に収めんとして各地でナチス・ドイツは猛威を奮っていた。しかし、戦況が悪化した1945年、ニュルンベルクの教会にあった聖なる槍はアメリカによって奪還された。
そして同年ヒトラーの自殺によって第三帝国は完全に崩壊したのである。。少なくとも、「 ヒトラーとロンギヌスの槍 」には所有から失ったという時系列を照らし合わせると、不可思議な因果が見えるのである
