Madanbashi Bridge in Tomigusuku City, Okinawa, is said to be the site of repeated sightings of a woman’s ghost.
According to local folklore, when the bridge was first being built, it was washed away no matter how many times people tried to complete it. A shrine maiden is said to have advised that a human pillar be offered, and the story claims the bridge was finally completed after that sacrifice.
There is also a small shrine nearby. Some say that if you cause trouble or behave disrespectfully around it, you may bring a curse upon yourself.
As this is a real location in Okinawa, visitors should be respectful, avoid entering restricted areas, and take care around roads and waterways, especially at night.
