September 11, 2001. For many people, that date alone brings back the same terrible images: hijacked passenger planes crashing into the Twin Towers in New York and into the Pentagon.
Those who remember the television broadcasts from that day may still recall how unreal it felt, like a disaster movie suddenly unfolding in the middle of New York City. The attacks shook the world, struck at the center of the American economy, and marked the beginning of a long global war on terror.
But around those attacks, there have also been persistent conspiracy theories. Some claim the events were an “inside job.” Others suggest that U.S. authorities may have known something in advance and deliberately let the attacks happen.
These ideas are not part of the official account. They remain rumors and conspiracy theories. Still, supporters point to several details they consider suspicious.
Two Rumors: “Inside Job” and “Let It Happen”
The first theory claims that the United States staged the attacks itself, disguising them as terrorism.
The second theory does not claim that the U.S. carried out the attacks, but suggests that Al-Qaeda, the Islamic extremist group blamed for the attacks, did carry them out—and that American officials may have had advance information but intentionally failed to stop them.
Again, both are rumors, not official conclusions. But they continue to be discussed because some people believe the attacks contain “strange” details.
Were the Twin Towers a Burden?
The September 11 attacks are officially attributed to Al-Qaeda. The death toll was 2,996 people, with more than 6,000 injured, and the financial losses are often estimated at at least 10 billion dollars. Al-Qaeda also issued statements after the attacks claiming responsibility.
Even so, conspiracy-minded writers have pointed to the Twin Towers themselves.
According to these claims, the towers had become a burden for their owners because asbestos had been used in the buildings. Removing hazardous asbestos would have required enormous costs, and for such valuable real estate in New York, this was allegedly a serious problem behind the glamorous image of a global financial center.
Another detail often mentioned is that expensive terrorism insurance was reportedly taken out on the Twin Towers only about six weeks before the attacks.
Of course, none of this proves that the attacks were staged or knowingly allowed to happen. If the only goal had been insurance money, there would have been no need for such a catastrophic event. Still, the article notes that large insurance policies existed, and that aging infrastructure and asbestos concerns around the Twin Towers appear to have been real issues.
The Collapse of the Towers and Building 7
After the planes struck, the Twin Towers collapsed. The official explanation is that the impacts and resulting fires weakened the structures until they could no longer stand.
However, conspiracy theories often focus on the way the buildings fell. It has often been said that the Twin Towers were designed with the possibility of aircraft impacts in mind. Because of the height of the buildings, it would not have been strange for designers to consider such a scenario.
Supporters of conspiracy theories argue that jet fuel could not have produced enough heat to weaken steel to that degree. They also question the speed of the collapse, claiming that even if the steel had weakened, the towers should not have fallen so quickly.
Then there is World Trade Center Building 7.
Because the collapse of the Twin Towers was so shocking, some people may not clearly remember that a nearby building, WTC 7, also collapsed later that day. No airplane hit Building 7.
It was reported that Building 7 collapsed due to damage and fires caused by the destruction of the Twin Towers. Still, conspiracy theorists point to the fact that the building fell in about 6.5 seconds, an extremely fast collapse. News footage from before the collapse did not appear to show massive visible damage, though there may have been internal damage that could not be seen from the outside.
To some viewers, the way Building 7 fell looked almost like a controlled demolition. For that reason, the footage continues to be cited by people who question the official story.
What Do You Think?
The September 11 attacks struck the heart of New York and the Pentagon, and they are officially considered acts of terrorism carried out by Al-Qaeda. At the same time, they remain surrounded by rumors and suspicions: large insurance policies, the condition of the Twin Towers, and the unusual-looking collapse of Building 7.
These theories should be treated carefully. They are not official conclusions, and the human tragedy of the attacks should never be forgotten.
For travelers visiting the World Trade Center site or memorial areas in New York, be respectful, follow posted rules, and remember that these are places of mourning for thousands of victims and their families.

2001年9 月11日…この日付を聞いただけで”あの映像”が浮かぶという方も少なくないでしょう。ニューヨーク同時多発テロで、ハイジャックされ旅客機がツインタワーやペンタゴンに突入したあのテロ事件です。。当時のテレビ画面を覚えている方も多いと思いますが、まるでパニック映画のような悪夢がニューヨークのど真ん中で現実になったのです。アメリカの経済の中枢を狙ったテロに世界は震撼し、そして、テロとの長い戦いが始まったのです。そんな同時多発テロに実は”自作自演説”があるのをご存知でしょうか。
にわかに信じがたい陰謀論ですが、確かに同時多発テロにはいろいろと”おかしなところ”があるんです。同時多発テロには自作自演説と見逃し説がある。世界を震撼させた同時多発テロには。自作自演説 見逃し説 がまことしやかにささやかれています。もちろんどちらも公式な発表とは違う”噂”のレベルです。自作自演説は、アメリカが自分でテロを装って爆破したというもの、そして、見逃し説はテロを起こしたのはイスラム過激派のアルカイダが、その情報を事前に知っていたのにアメリカがわざと見逃したというものです。
同時多発テロの標的になったツインタワーは実はお荷物だった?高額の保険が掛けられていた?。同時多発テロはイスラム過激派テロ組織アルカイダの犯行であるとされています。死者は2996人、負傷者は6000人以上、損失額は少なく見積もっても 100億ドルとも言われるテロで、アルカイダはテロ後に犯行声明 も出しています。。。同時多発テロの標的になったツインタワーですが、実はお荷物だった…と言われているんです。ツインタワーには、有害なアスベストが使用されていて撤去するために莫大な費用がかかるお荷物だったというんです。
ニューヨークの一等地にありながらも実は所有者にとってはこのアスベストの問題はとても頭が痛い難題であったと・・。そして、ツインタワーには、テロのわずか6週前に高額のテロ保険が掛けられていたそうです。もちろん、これだけで「自作自演」だの「テロを見逃した」だのと決める証拠にはなりません。単に保険金が欲しいだけであれば、何も爆破する必要もないのですから・・・。ただ、 莫大な保険が掛けられていたのは事実のようですし、ツインタワーの老朽化やアスベストが問題になっていたはどうやら事実 のようです。

あれだけの高さのビルですから、どのような形であれ飛行機が激突することが想定されていても不自然ではありません。。ツインタワーは、飛行機が激突したあとに高温になったことで強度が低下して崩壊したというのが正式な見解ですが、 飛行機に使用されている燃料では鉄の強度が低下するほどの高温を作り出すのは難しいといわれている んです。そして、あの崩壊の仕方も不自然と言われています。ツインタワーはあっという間に崩落していますが”仮に鉄の強度が低下していたとしてもあの速度で崩落するのはおかしい”と主張している人も多くいるのです。
ツインタワーの崩壊があまりにインパクトがありすぎであまり覚えている人はいないかもしれませんが、ツインタワーが崩壊した後、 近くにあるワールドトレードセンターの第7ビルも崩壊 しました。もちろん、 第7ビルには飛行機が激突したわけではありません。。第7ビルはツインタワー崩壊の影響で崩壊したと報道されたのですが、 たったの6.5秒というとんでもない速度で崩壊 しました。火災はあったとされていますが、当時のニュース映像で流れた崩壊前の第7ビルを見てみると特に大きなダメージはないようでした。
