English Version
Saikai Bridge in Nagasaki is said to be the site of several unsettling apparitions, including the spirits of a parent and child and the ghost of a soaking-wet woman.
Completed in 1955, the long bridge connects Sasebo City with Saikai City. In the 1970s, it became associated with a large number of suicides and gained a reputation as a so-called suicide spot.
The waters below are also known for their extremely fast currents and powerful whirlpools. According to local rumors, bodies were sometimes never recovered because of the violent flow.
The area is around Hario Higashimachi in Sasebo and the Komukaigo area of Saikai, Nagasaki Prefecture. If you visit, stay in public areas, follow posted rules, and do not approach restricted sections or the water, as the currents can be dangerous.
